In January 4, 2025, the Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences (EXPLORE) Act was signed into law, establishing the Federal Interagency Council on Outdoor Recreation (FICOR) to coordinate on issues related to outdoor recreation, including engaging partners, enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities, and improving access to Federal recreational lands and waters.

The FICOR has representatives from eight agencies (appointed by the agency head):

The FICOR works collaboratively across agencies and boundaries, including with State, Tribal, Territorial, and local governments, and other outdoor recreation partners to facilitate collaborative management of outdoor recreation and enhance outdoor recreation opportunities.
